Implantable products
Implantable medical devices
Implantable devices are medical devices that are intended to be used in whole or in part in the human body. These include products that are fully inserted into a body opening in the human body through a clinical surgical procedure or that penetrate the body surface, even if they are intended to be fully or partially resorbed or remain there for at least 30 days or permanently after the procedure. Common examples of medical implants are: artificial hip and knee joints, breast implants, pacemakers, contraceptive implants, intraocular lenses (for cataract operations).
